7 principles for conveying complex information

Why this?

Scientific and technical professionals who can succinctly communicate the value of their work are at a distinct advantage when compared to those who can’t.  Whether it’s to turn innovative ideas into a commercial reality or to further a career, it is vital that scientists and technical professionals can convey their work in a way that’s clear, concise and conversational.

Who is it for?

This is for researchers, academics, those who work in high tech, life sciences, medical, engineering aerospace, IT professionals or anyone who has to deliver clear, concise and technical information.  It is specifically for professionals who often get glazed looks when describing what they do. It is for those who have complex concepts to convey.

What’s it about?

Having studied what makes some people and their propositions more memorable than others, Melissa Kidd has pulled together 7 principles.  This interactive, communication skills session shows delegates how to apply them to their conversations.

By the end of the session, delegates will be able to

  • Describe and apply the 7 principles to make them stand out.
  • Communicate so that people want to hear what they’ve got to say
  • Articulate what they do in a way that’s concise, clear and conversational
  • Describe their work so that people understand its value easily
  • Tell stories to demonstrate their credibility
  • Create an analogy or metaphor to illustrate their work
  • Identified ways to keep strengthening their key relationships without being a pest
  • Avoid being remembered for the wrong reasons

How long is it?

3 hour session.

How many can attend the session?

Up to 12 people
